Share Your Time and Talent

There are many ways to be involved with liturgy at Cabrini. Whether your interests and talents lean toward the  public or behind-the-scenes creation of meaningful worship, you can contribute.  Consider volunteering in one or more of the following established ministries.

Liturgy Committee: Sets the overall direction for liturgy at Cabrini. A place to do some “dreaming,” as well as the information-sharing and decision-making that affect our liturgies. Quarterly meetings. All are welcome.

Liturgy Planning Team: Cares for the planning of liturgies for special Sundays and feasts, as well as seasons, such as Advent, Christmas, Lent, the Paschal Triduum, and Easter. Whether reflecting on the Scripture readings, brainstorming, or evaluating, your own experience of liturgy is valued here! Contact –

Environment: Creating and maintaining a welcoming and appropriate environment in the worship space and adjoining areas, and working with the planning team for special seasons and celebrations, to enhance the liturgies, is the work of this ministry. All are welcome – those with artistic talent and creative ideas, as well as those willing to do what must be done, from climbing ladders to ironing and hanging fabrics to grooming candles and more.

Readers: A ministry – performed well – so that the Word of God can make its way more easily into the ears and lives and hearts of all of us! More information is available on the Readers page.

Mass Coordinators: Lighting candles, preparing things, inviting others to bring up gifts…a few of the ways Mass coordinators say “Welcome!” as the community gathers for worship. Several coordinators would be glad to have others accompany them some weekend, to gain first-hand experience here.

Communion Ministers: Holy gifts for holy people. From within the community, communion ministers come forth…Mass coordinators would be happy to know of your willingness to serve here, and younger children are especially invited to hold baskets during communion.

Dance: Processions, gestures very familiar to us, spontaneous circle dances…there are times we all dance! And there are times a small group leads the community, or enhances our worship with dance. Children and adults, men and women, people of various abilities are all most welcome.

Drama: Different eyes, ears, minds, and hearts find different treasures buried deep in the Word of God. Story and drama are ways of inviting our imaginations to be engaged, of bringing to light a perspective we might otherwise miss. On occasion, small groups gather to create or adapt drama and mime – for the experience itself, or to offer in our liturgies.
Word Team: This group of parish members meets weekly to discuss the Sunday Scripture Readings and their implications in our lives. The Word Team evaluates the preaching that takes place in our community, and team members as well as others are invited to share, on a regular basis, in the reflections at our parish liturgies.
